In a significant crackdown on counterfeit products, Indian authorities, in collaboration with technology giant HP, have seized counterfeit HP consumables worth approximately 300 million rupees between November 2022 and October 2023.
With the support of HP, law enforcement agencies successfully removed nearly 440,000 counterfeit HP consumables from the market, including a substantial number of counterfeit toner cartridges and ink cartridges.
The majority of the seizure operations took place in Mumbai, where authorities confiscated over 100,000 illegal items. In May 2023, Indian authorities took action against two companies engaged in the sale of counterfeit HP printer consumables, conducting major raids within just ten days. During these raids, authorities seized over 45,000 counterfeit HP consumables from the market.
