Honhai Technology has been supplying printer parts for over 10 years. We have been providing high-quality products, and we provide professional solutions to meet our customers’ needs. We sell our ink cartridges for HP735 and HP746 in many countries, including Russia and Bangladesh. The ink cartridges available in China are newer versions of some of the older models; specifically, there are the newer versions of many colors of the HP735 series and HP746 series.
Customers outside of China may want to know how they can obtain the newer, cheaper versions of the HP735 and HP746 ink cartridges manufactured in China. To understand this better, let’s start by looking at the differences between the “B” versions and the standard versions. For example:
HP 738 Ink Cartridge
- HP 738B Black Cartridge (300 ml) (498N8A); customers outside of China usually order with the customer code 498P2A.
- HP 738 Yellow Cartridge – 130 ml (498N7A)
- HP 738 Magenta Cartridge – 130 ml (498N6A)
- HP 738 Cyan Cartridge – 130 ml (498N5A)
- 738 is the main code for the ink cartridge. 498N8A is the sub-code.
If a product code ends with the letter “B,” it indicates an upgraded version of that product.
So can I use my HP 746B? Here is how you can verify if your printer supports the new B Series HP 746 ink cartridges:
1. Contact HP Customer Service
2. Locate the printer Serial Number (this is typically located on the back or base of your printer)
3. Request confirmation from HP. They will notify you if your printer can be upgraded to use the new B Series ink cartridges.
If your printer is capable of being upgraded, you can use the new 746B ink cartridges. If your printer is not going to support the upgrade, don’t worry, there are alternatives.
If your printer cannot be upgraded, you can still use the 746B ink cartridges by changing the cartridge chip. Honhai Technology is able to provide the chip for this purpose. To use our new chip, simply remove the old chip from the ink cartridge and insert our new chip, which will allow your printer to identify and accept the 746B version of that cartridge and allow that to function with your printer. Alternatively, you can take the chip from your old cartridge.
For example, the yellow HP 746 (3WX38A) cartridges are an easy solution for overseas customers. However, the Chinese 746B cartridge will have a different serial number (the sub-code is P2V79A). Notably, the only real difference is the suffix “B,” which identifies that as the upgraded version of the cartridge. In case of uncertainty, remember that these two solutions provide an effective means to obtain the upgraded products.
We hope you will find this information helpful in your decision-making process regarding your printer and ink cartridge. If you have other questions or need further assistance, please contact us, and our team will be pleased to assist you.
